These Puff Pastry Apple Cinnamon Rings are a light treat made with only a few ingredients and it's perfect for the upcoming fall days. You will love juicy apples with cinnamon in a flaky puff pastry at first bite. They taste like apple pie and yet, they’re so different.
Thaw the puff pastry following the instructions on the package. Preheat the oven to 400 F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.
Place the puff pastry on the parchment paper, thin it out with a rolling pin, then cut with a pizza cutter into strips ½ inch wide. Put the puff pastry in the fridge while you prepare the apples.
In a smaller bowl, mix brown sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Peel the apples, then slice them into rings using a 1-inch cookie cutter, cut and then core the apples so that they look like rings.
Place each ring in the sugar and cinnamon mixture, to coat each side. Wrap the apple rings with strips of puff pastry.
Place them on a prepared baking sheet a few inches apart. Beat an egg with some water, then coat the rings with the beaten egg and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown. Take them out of the oven when they’re done.
Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce or sprinkle with powdered sugar.
Notes
Wrap the apples with puff pastry completely.
Cut puff pastry strips in half or into quarters to make it easier to wrap them around the apple. Keep the puff pastry strips in the fridge and take as many as you need for one apple ring.
At room temperature, the puff pastry becomes sticky, so follow this advice so that you don't have any difficulties wrapping the dough around the apple.
