How to prepare Apple French Toast Bake?
Melt butter in a pan, using medium heat; add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook for 10-15 min or until the apples soften. Spray, with a non-stick spray, a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Place pieces of bread. Whisk eggs, milk, and heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Pour over the already placed pieces of bread.
Spread apple pie filling over the bread and stir, and then press so that each piece of bread is completely soaked. Combine oat, flour, baking powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and melted butter. Stir with spatula or your hands, until well combined. Spread over the pieces of bread and apple.
Cover with plastic foliage and put in the fridge for a few hours, possibly overnight. Take it out of the fridge and leave at a room temperature for 30 minutes, before baking. Remove the foliage. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Bake for about 50 min.

Ingredients
- APPLE FILLING:
- 1 tablespoon Unsalted Butter
- 4 large apples, diced
- 1/3 cup Light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- FRENCH TOAST BAKE:
- 15 ounces French bread or sourdough bread, cubed
- 2 1/2 cups Milk
- 1/2 cup Heavy cream
- 1 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla extract
- 8 Eggs
- 2/3 cup Light brown sugar
- 1 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- Pinch of Salt
- CRISP TOPPING:
- 1/2 cup Quick oats
- 1/2 cup All purpose flour
- 1/4 cup Unsalted butter, melted
- 1/8 teaspoon Baking powder
- 1/3 cup Light brown sugar
- 3/4 teaspoon Ground cinnamon
- 1/8 teaspoon Ground nutmeg
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- TO MAKE THE APPLE PIE FILLING - Melt butter in a pan, using medium heat; add apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and nutmeg. Cook for 10-15 min or until the apples soften. Leave to cool at a room temperature. Meanwhile, make French toast and cinnamon oat topping.
- TO MAKE FRENCH TOAST -Spray, with a non-stick spray, a 9 x 13 inch baking pan. Place pieces of bread. In a large dish, whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt. Pour over the placed pieces of bread. Spread apple pie filling over the bread and stir, and then press so that each piece of bread is completely soaked.
- TO MAKE CINNAMON OAT TOPPING - Combine oat, flour, baking powder, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and melted butter. Stir with spatula or your hands, until well combined. Spread over the pieces of bread and apple. Cover with plastic foliage and put in the fridge for a few hours, possibly overnight. Take it out of the fridge and leave at a room temperature for 30 minutes, before baking. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Remove the foliage. Bake for about 50 minutes, or until the topping gets golden brown and is fully baked in the middle.
