How to make Apple Pie Quesadillas?
How to Make Apple Pie Quesadillas?
Step 1 - Prepare the cinnamon sugar
Combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a shallow bowl. Mix well and set aside.
Step 2 - Prepare the tortilla
Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat and add ½ tablespoon of butter. Spread ½ tablespoon of caramel sauce over half of a tortilla, then spoon 2-3 tablespoons of apple pie filling over the caramel sauce.

Step 3 - Cook the quesadilla
Fold the tortilla in half and carefully place it in the pan with the melted butter. Cook until golden brown, then carefully flip and cook the other side until golden brown and crisp.
Step 4 - Coat with cinnamon sugar
Brush both sides of the warm quesadilla with the melted butter from the pan, then place it in the bowl with the cinnamon sugar. Sprinkle and turn until evenly coated.

Step 5 - Repeat and add caramel
Repeat the process with the remaining tortillas. Cut each quesadilla in half and drizzle with additional caramel sauce.
Step 6 - Serve warm
Serve these Apple Pie Quesadillas warm with a scoop of vanilla or caramel ice cream or a dollop of whipped topping. They make a quick and easy dessert, breakfast, or snack!

Tips and tricks:
Chop the apple filling: If your apple pieces are large, chop the apple pie filling into smaller pieces before filling the tortillas. This makes the quesadillas easier to fold and helps prevent the filling from falling out.
Don't overfill the tortillas: It can be tempting to add extra apple filling and caramel, but too much filling can make the quesadillas difficult to close and more likely to leak while cooking. Keep the filling in the center and leave about a ½-inch border around the edges.
Use medium heat: Cook the quesadillas over medium heat rather than high heat. This gives the tortillas enough time to become golden and crisp without burning the outside before the filling is heated through.
Watch the caramel sauce: Caramel can become very runny when heated. Use a thin layer inside the quesadilla and avoid spreading it all the way to the edges to help prevent leaking.
Brush with butter while warm: Brush both sides of the hot quesadilla with the melted butter from the pan before coating it with cinnamon sugar. The butter helps the sugar and cinnamon stick to the tortilla and creates a delicious crispy coating. If you enjoy this crispy, buttery technique, you might also like my Caramel Apple Chimichangas.
Coat immediately: For the best cinnamon-sugar coating, toss the quesadillas in the sugar mixture while they are still warm. The coating sticks much better before the butter cools. If you love this sweet cinnamon-sugar combination, you might also enjoy my Cinnamon Sugar Apple Muffins.
Use a clean pan between batches: If caramel or sugar starts to burn in the pan, carefully wipe it out before cooking the next batch. Burnt sugar can make the tortillas taste bitter and cause them to brown too quickly.
Serve immediately: Apple Pie Quesadillas are best served warm, when the tortillas are crisp and the apple filling and caramel are warm. Add a scoop of vanilla or caramel ice cream or whipped topping just before serving.

Apple Pie Quesadillas
Ingredients
- 21 oz can apple pie filling
- ½ cup caramel sauce divided
- 5 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 4-5 tablespoon unsalted butter
- 8 6 inch flour tortillas
Instructions
- Combine sugar and cinnamon in a shallow bowl, the size of half of a tortilla and set it aside. Heat a non-stick pan over medium heat, then put ½ tablespoon of butter to melt.
- Spread ½ tablespoon of caramel sauce over ½ of the tortilla, then put 2-3 tablespoons of apple pie filling over the sauce. Fold tortilla in half and place it in the pan with melted butter.
- Cook until the tortilla is golden brown, then carefully turn the other side and again, cook until it's golden brown.
- Brush the tortilla on all sides with butter from the pan and then put it in a bowl with cinnamon and sugar. Sprinkle sugar until it's coated.
- Repeat the same procedure with the remaining tortillas, then cut them in half and drizzle with caramel sauce.
- Serve warm with vanilla or caramel ice cream or whipped topping.
Notes
- Chop the apple pie filling before filling the tortillas.
- Brush the tortilla with butter from the pan. It will help sugar and cinnamon stick to a tortilla more easily. To prevent apple pie and caramel sauce from leaking out of the quesadilla while cooking, leave a ½ inch gap along the tortilla edges. If the sauce leaks anyway, you can just put it back in the quesadilla.
- How to store leftovers? It's best to serve Apple Pie Quesadillas warm, immediately after cooking. However, if you still have some leftovers, keep them in the fridge, in an airtight container for 2-3 days. Keep in mind that quesadillas will become soggy.
- Can Apple Pie Quesadillas be frozen? I don't recommend freezing.
